Connecting Rebex for SFTP

Rebex is a secure SFTP and SSH server for Windows, free for non-commercial use. It can be used to set up your own internal SFTP server for testing EFTXpress SFTP connections before connecting to your bank's SFTP server.

Step 1: Add a new user

Access the Users section in Rebex and add a new user. Assign a username that will be used in the EFTXpress SFTP setup.

Step 2: Authentication settings

Keep the default authentication settings. Enable password authentication and choose "local password." Select "Required" if using SFTP with 2-Factor Authentication.

Step 3: Add public key

If using SFTP with Key File authentication or 2-Factor Authentication, select "Required" and then Add public key to link your .pub key file.

Step 4: Virtual path setting

Select Add Path Mapping to define the directory where files will be sent and retrieved. Select "Required" if a key must be provided for upload permission.

Step 5: SSH settings

Keep SSH settings as default.

Step 6: Update user

Select Update User to save all settings.

Step 7: Configure EFTXpress SFTP

In Cashbook, navigate to Setup EFTXpress Banks | SFTP Setup tab and enter:

  • Host IP Address: the IP or hostname of your Rebex server
  • User: the username created in Rebex
  • User Password: the password assigned to the user
  • Port: defaults to 22

Select Test Connection to verify. The log file PSEFTSecure.log in the cb??a directory will record the result.
