RecXpress SFTP - Permission Denied (publickey)

The RecXpress SFTP connection fails with "Permission Denied (publickey)". This is an SFTP connectivity issue that requires checking credentials, key access, and the connection log.

If the RecXpress SFTP connection fails with "SFTP with Key file transfer failed: Permission Denied (publickey)", work through the following checklist:

  1. Confirm credentials with the bank. Ensure the Host IP Address, Username, and key file details are exactly as provided by the bank.
  2. Check for duplicate setups. Ensure no two bank setups share the same Host IP Address and Username combination.
  3. Verify folder permissions. The folder containing the public and private key files must have read/write access for the user running Cashbook.
  4. Enter the Key Password. If using SFTP with Key File and Rebex, ensure the Key Password is entered in the SFTP setup.
  5. Test the connection. In C/B Bank Accounts | RecXpress tab, select Test Connection. This must succeed before attempting an import.
  6. Check the log file. Select the View Log button to open the PSRXSecure.log file. This records all SFTP activity including connection attempts, file transfers, and errors, and will show the exact point of failure.
